About Friends Of Mississippi Veterans
FOMV’s intial driving purpose was spearheading the creation of State veterans cemeteries. Those facilities have now been completed and are in operation (Mississippi State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton and North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael), and so our focus of has turned toward other longterm projects. There are approximately 600 men and women residing in Mississippi’s four State veterans nursing homes. Each year in November, FOMV volunteers visit these veterans and provide each with a gift. Recently, equipment was also donated to these facilities. In December FOMV honors the graves of veterans by adorning them with Christmas greenery through the “Wreaths Across America” program.
