About American Veterans Care Association Inc
MISSION American Veterans Care Association, Inc believes every American can succeed in life after their military career has come to an end. Our aim is to help restore their sense of self, family bonds, and community participation. American Veterans Care Association provides comprehensive support programs for military veterans that are focused on transition, health, wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources. HISTORY Ericha Fabays family legacy to help others has deep roots in military and community service with her maternal grandfather, Felizardo Valenzuela. Felizardo was offered army enlistment during the World War II because he knew how to dig artesian wells and during that war, he was gunner for the Philippine Scouts which became part of the US Army. He was born in 1918 in Cavite, Philippines. Felizardo also participated in the Korean War by having the specialty of being known as Explosive Ordinance Disposal specialist aka EOD. One of his posts was at the Ikego Ammunition Depot in Zushi City, Japan, approximately eight kilometers from Yokosuka Naval Base. He was able to hone and develop his skills at disabling landmines and other items throughout World War II and the Korean War. When he retired from the armed forces, Felizardo became a welder and offered to help his community with projects such as auto repair and fixing household items. He was a devoted family man to his wife, Emiliana and their seven children as well as devoted grandparent. Felizardo liked to spend time an avid fisherman and would share whatever he caught with family and friends alike. While he is no longer with us since 2012, his family including his first grandchild, Ericha continue to devote much time to public service just as Felizardo did.
